The first signs that erectile dysfunction drugs are working in the United States are already beginning to appear on the market.
The Food and Drug Administration says that a new class of drugs called “PDE5 inhibitors” could work for men with erectile dysfunction. They will also reduce the number of side effects caused by such drugs as nausea, headaches and back pain.
In order for the FDA to approve the first-line medications, it must first make sure that the drug is approved by the FDA for use in the United States, says Dr. Robert L. Gendy, the chairman of the Food and Drug Administration’s Office of Generic Drugs and the director of the FDA’s Office of Generic Drugs. “We have already established that it’s not for people to take the pills with the full-on effect of a pill,” he said.
The new class of drugs, called PDE5 inhibitors, is designed to increase blood flow to the penis by relaxing the smooth muscle tissue in the penis. These drugs work by blocking certain enzymes that allow the body to produce and secrete prostaglandins, which are naturally produced by the prostate.
The drugs are available as well as generic Viagra and the brand-name drug PDE5.
The new drugs are said to have some of the best possible safety profiles for men who have erectile dysfunction. They include sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil and dapoxetine.
The FDA has approved the new class of drugs as well as the generic version, vardenafil. The drug is marketed by Eli Lilly & Co. and is also available as an oral tablet. The drug is used to treat erectile dysfunction in men of all ages, although it can also be used for pulmonary hypertension in men. However, it does not treat pulmonary hypertension.
“It’s a very important area that has been very difficult to reach and it’s hard to get a prescription filled,” said Dr. David H. Cohen, director of the FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research.
The new drugs are also known as PDE5 inhibitors. The FDA has said that they are safe and effective. The drug has been approved by the FDA for use in patients with an erection lasting more than 4 hours. In men with mild to moderate erectile dysfunction, the drug works well and is safe.
“This is an important area for physicians and physicians to be focused on,” said Dr. Gendy.
However, some men have reported problems with their erections when taking the drugs. Some have experienced a sudden inability to achieve an erection when first taking them. They have also reported some problems with their vision when taking them.
